By 2020, there will be 6.1 billion smartphone users worldwide! With this in mind, it only makes sense for companies, whether big or sall, to optimize their marketing strategies for the digital sphere. For eCommerce companies, in particular, the industry is expected to grow by 31% in 2018! When the majority of your consumers are on their smartphones, browsing the internet, checking in via social media, shopping online, and so much more, you need to be where your customers are! Unsure of where to start? Here are tips on how to boost your online marketing campaign.
1) Blog Blog Blog!
A report done by the company, Axonn, states that companies with a “blog” section on their website get about 55% more visitors and receive 97% more inbound links. This could partially be due to the fact that over 72% of people now prefer to receive promotional content in the form of a blog post, rather than traditional ads. That’s a decent chunk of a potential market you could tap into!
If you need more statistics to entice you into starting your own blog, here’s another: brands that maintain an active blog are 13x more likely to have positive ROI. To think, just 1-2 blog posts per day, could earn you more visitors!
2) Create a brand story.
Every brand has its story to tell. What’s yours? Developing a narrative is imperative if you want your consumers to understand who you are as a brand, what you stand for, what you offer, etc. Most importantly, your consumers should be able to relate to your story. Whether you’re promoting a lifestyle, a cause, selling a product, or service, a brand story gives your customer something to anchor to.
Brands that have done this successfully, like Nike, Apple, and Coca Cola, have gone to to become household names. Instead of worrying about the specifics, and going sma, keep a bigger picture in mind. What are your customers’ wants and needs, and how does your content convince them to purchase your product/service, in order to fulfill them?
These are questions you should keep in mind when creating your narrative.
3) Stay social!
You have your content, and you have your narrative. Now you need to get social! Social media is an invaluable resource with seemingly limitless platforms. It’s also a great way to communicate directly with your consumers, and address any of their concerns, comments and questions. Customer service can make, or break, a company and long are the days when customer service reps put us on hold over the phone for what seemed like an eternity. With social media, your customers can Tweet you, DM (direct message) you on Instagram, send an inquiry through your Facebook page, etc.
Being able to address matters such as tracking numbers for orders, sizing charts (for apparel), return policies, payment options, etc. directly from a smart device is certainly convenient.
Additionally, the majority of social media platforms offer analytics so you can see what content is performing well, how your customers engage with your content, their location, type of device they’re using, and more. These are all critical pieces of information you can use to adjust any strategies, address a new target market, etc.
